Our patriarch has taken his final journey home.

We are saddened and heartbroken to announce the passing of Thomas Donald Harris at the wonderful age of 88 years old. Tom passed peacefully away at home surrounded by his loving family on April 9th, 2020.

Predeceased by his wife and love of his life Della, parents William and Millicent, brothers Howard, Stellman and Clarence, brothers in law Calvin, Junior and Ralph, sisters in law Bernice, Jesse, and Margaret.

Leaving to mourn are his brothers and sisters Chesley (Joyce), Rayfield (Doreen), Eva (Roy), Nettie, Alonzo (Debbie), children, Gloria and Terry, grandchildren Tom (Gail), Hiedi (Gary), David (Natalie), Paula and Jessica, great-grandchildren Chelsea, Colin (Kendra), Meghan (Corey), Nicole, Michael, Chris and Jacob, great-great-grandchildren Landon, Caleb, Hunter, Savannah and Aubree, and numerous other family and friends.

Tom was an avid hunter and fisher, who could tell you many stories of his adventures from fishing on Quirpon to working on the railway in Quebec. He was a kind, gentle and compassionate person who loved his family beyond measure.

A special thanks to Dr. Andrew Hutton, Dr. Chaudhary Ahmad, Dr. Scott Edwards and the nurses and staff at the Dr. H Bliss Murphy Cancer Center for their for their care and compassion over the years, to Elite Homecare and Rosemore Homecare for their help in caring for Tom at home. The family would also like to thank to Dr. Stephanie Smith, Dr. Melanie Seal, Dr. Karen Downton, and the nurses and staff of the HSC ER and 4NB for their compassion and comfort, Dr. Dalton with the Palliative Care Team, Elizabeth Murphy-Smith CHN and the Eastern Health Paramedics.

There will be no visitation or funeral due to Covid-19. A private family burial has taken place already. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
