As with many young men and women in the post war era , Julia went to work at the nearby Gander A ir B ase and it was there that she met her husband Leslie. They married in 1951 , raised three children and enjoyed many happy years together until Leslie's passing in 2016. F ondly known as Nanny, Julia w as a very loving and kind mother to Jim (Jill), Blair ( predeceased 2011), and Susan (Bob), grandmother to Sa ra (Jeff), and Philip and great-grandmother to Kaylie and Bennett. She is survived by her brother Fran k Cashin of Mount Pearl, and predeceased by her brother Michael Cashin of Fredericton, and sisters' Josephine ( Smyth ) and Eileen (Hookey) of Gander .

With Leslie's career in aircraft maintenance and later in their retire ment Julia had the opportunity to experience life and work in Gander, Stephenville , Goose Bay , Pasadena and St. John's . She thoroughly enjoyed all these communities and what they had to offer . As children and grandchildren we all reaped the benefits of her creative interests, having the best Halloween costumes , lots of home knit mitts and sweaters , beautiful ly sewn quilts , and amazing birthday cakes . Unable to create in her later years, she did maintain her jovial nature and relish ed every visit with family and friends.

In her final six years, Julia resided at Chancellor Park. The care was exceptional and we wish to express our heartfelt thanks to all the staff for their compassion and the ir attention to every detail . A summertime memorial service and internment will take place in Heart's Content. Please visit https://www.greensfuneralservices.ca/ if you wish to sign the memorial guest book.
