It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our dear loved one Gary Roy Hindy at the Health Science Centre, St. John's; on July the 8th, 2026 at the age of 69 years.
Predeceased by his parents Ford and Elaine Hindy, Baby Brother Freddie, and Parents-in-law Reg and Janet Legge.
Leaving to morn his loving and devoted wife of 48 years, Valerie; daughter Tina (Martin) Higgins, son Chuck Hindy (Sheryl Chambers), the pride and joy of his life granddaughter Makayla Hindy; sister Muriel (Jeff) Gulliford. Sisters-in law Yvonne (Randy) Mealey, Carol (Rick-deceased) Stoyles; Brothers-in-law Garry (Fronie) Legge and Len (Yvonne) Legge, Special niece Pam Finaly, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Special friends Cliff and Pauline Penney; "The Captain" - Bill Balsom and "First Mate" Jill Balsom.
Gary was a very dedicated and loving family man; he loved his wife, Val, beyond measure. His children were everything to him and Makayla was his princess and his whole world. He was an old soul, but a gentle and kind one. Always thinking of others before himself. Gary enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved fishing, berry picking, moose hunting, his little garden farm, making splits, and having cook ups. From spending countless hours at the hockey rink and ball field in his early years and later with his son, you knew he was a sports fanatic. He loved watching his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Red Sox and The Patriots. Although he had a remarkable knowledge and love for music "he couldn't sing a note". If you were lucky enough to be his friend, it was for life!!
Special thanks from the family to Dr Darryl Hogan (family doctor), the doctors and Nurse Practioners of the Heart Failure Clinic, the staff of the Health Science 5th Floor South; Dr. Mohammed Almutawa (CCU) and the CCU nurses George, Lexi and Jessica for their special kindness and care at such a difficult time.
As per Gary's wishes cremation has taken place. Visitation will be at Green's Funeral Home in Winterton on Friday July the 17th from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., Saturday July 18th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Funeral Service will take place at the Salvation Army Citadel, Winterton at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday July 18th. Following the service Gary will be laid to rest with his Baby Brother Freddie at the Salvation Army Cemetery in Winterton. Reception to follow at the Salvation Army Citadel Hall, Winterton.
