Obituary

It is with a heavy heart we announce the peaceful passing of Chad at the Health Science Center on July 13, 2025, following a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 56.

Leaving to mourn, his loving partner: Cheryl Rumbolt; parents: Snowden and Barbara Norris; son: Blaine Norris (Caitlin); step-daughter: Hailey (Chris) Hicks; step-son: Colin Rumbolt (Kylie); mother-in-law: Margaret Rumbolt; father-in-law: Clifford Pye; brother: Craig (Jane) Norris; Sister: Corina (David) Reid, brother-in-law: Scott (Amelia) Pye, and Sheldon (Deidra) Pye, sister-in-law Tammy (Tony) Acreman; special nephews and  niece: Mark (Sherrill) Norris, Lucas (Melody) Norris, and Mandy (Michael) Norris – Who he loved as his own. Chad will also be missed dearly by a number of great niece's and nephews, especially Alex and Ava Norris, cousins, extended family, and large circle of friends including his special furry friends Fluffy, Moo, and Ozzie.

Chad was the baby of the family, born on May 29, 1969, in Buchans, Newfoundland, where he spent the early years of his life surrounded by people he spoke fondly of all these years later. Chad and family then moved Winterton, where he discovered his love for the bay and eventually laid down roots of his own. He spent his last few years living in Lodge Bay, Labrador, where he thoroughly enjoyed sharing his life with his fiancé and her family - whom he loved dearly.

Chad was a soft, gentle, no-frills, kind of guy who aways had a smile on his face, loved joking around and having a good laugh, and listening to Cabin Party. His big heart and kind ways were felt by many, and family was everything to him. He always wanted to be working and as a result, was a jack-of-a-trades. He took great pride in his work and no matter where he worked over the years, he loved his colleagues, and they loved him.

During his final weeks, he loved to come home to Winterton and sit on the bank watching the boats come and go from the harbour, and spend time with his family.

A special thank you to Chad's oncology team and the many nurses who showed him a level of care we will forever be grateful for.
