Obituary

Passed peacefully away at Pte. Josiah Squibb Memorial Pavillion, Carbonear on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, Betsy Hefford of New Perlican, age 98 years.

Predeceased by husband: Albert; son: William; parents: William and Merab; sisters: Nora and Vera Seward; brother: Clarence Seward; niece: Sherry Bailey; nephew: Ed Hindy.

Leaving to mourn, son: Albert (Valerie); daughter: Judy (Karen); grandchildren: Dayna (Danny), Warren (Amy), Chad (Jill), Sonya (Adam), and Vanessa; great- grandchildren: Liam, Sara, Cameron, Emily, Owen, Eric, Cali, Shane, Octavia, Walker, Emma, Archer, Everett, and Grace; sister: Shirley (Edgar); also a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

At her core, Betsy was a people person. She loved owning and operating her own grocery store for many years, greeting every patron with a smile and a yarn.  A pillar of her community, she began volunteering at the age of 17. An active member of the ACW and LOBA for over 50 years and a contributing member of the Masonic Ladies Auxiliary. Anyone who was familiar with Betsy, knew how much she loved a game of Bingo. Summer vacations were also a special time for her, travelling around with her husband in their motorhome. More times than not, with a couple of grandkids in tow. Her whole life revolved around her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her love for her family was boundless! Beautiful memories will live in the hearts of all those that loved her.

We would like to thank all the staff of Pte. Josiah Squibb Memorial Pavillion for the comfort and care that they provided during Betsy's stay. We are especially grateful to Mark Crane who always went the extra mile to make sure she was happy.
